Corvette ZR1X
I always thought American cars couldn’t turn. With this new generation of cars I am now realizing that I was mistaken. The Corvette ZR1X is the pinnacle of American sports cars. A mid engine coupe with more than 1,000 horsepower and it isn’t Italian! The ZR1X is proof that not all powerful American cars are boats.
Exterior
The Corvette has a very sleek design with the engine in the middle. The car also has a huge front vent and 2 equally big side vents. The ZR1X also has a very aggressive front splitter, huge canards, and an even larger rear wing. All these features give the car hyper car looks. But it’s not only looks. The ZR1X also has hyper car performance!
Performance
As I was saying, the ZR1X also has hyper car performance. It’s turbocharged V8, dubbed the LT7 makes 1064 horsepower and 186 more horsepower from an electric motor in the front. Combined that’s 1250 horsepower! The car with the closest horsepower numbers to this is the Czinger 21C. The ZR1X is on a league of its own. It’s aero generates 1,200 lbs of downforce at its top speed of 233 mph! This made it possible for the ZR1X to lap the Nurburgring in 6 minutes and 49 seconds making the ZR1X the fastest American car to lap the Nurburgring! The ZR1X also holds the record for quickest American car on the drag strip with a crazy time of 8.675 seconds! To put that into perspective, The Koenigsegg Jesko, the fastest car in the world, has a time of 8.88 seconds.
Interior
The interior of the ZR1X is very futuristic. The car has triple screens around the driver seat. The buttons, screens, and cup holders are all surrounding the driver seat. The interior looks a bit like a fighter jet but very luxurious. I think this was done to pay homage to the Corvette C4 which also had this same design of cabin. The only thing I don’t really like about this style of interior is the asymmetry. The passenger side is basically blank.
Pricing
The Corvette C8 ZR1X is not a cheap car. The base ZR1X comes in at about 207 thousand dollars! There are multiple versions available for the Corvette. The ZR1X is already the top tier of the Corvette, but there are also some more versions available for the ZR1X! First we have the ZR1X 1LZ, which is the base 207 grand. All of these versions of the ZR1X all have the same performance, but the 1LZ just doesn’t have any extras. The next tier is the 1LZ convertible, which is exactly what the name implies, 1LZ, but is a convertible, and it comes in at 217 thousand. After that we have the 3LZ and the 3LZ convertible. The 2 3LZs are basically just a more luxurious version of their 1LZ counterparts. They both come in at 218 and 228 thousand dollars respectively. Finally we have the Quail Silver Edition which comes in at a whopping 241 thousand dollars! The Quail Silver Edition is a limited edition car intended to compete with Italian collectors cars. Also another thing to watch out for are massive dealer markups. I actually estimate that at the beginning of sales for these cars there could be up to a 50 thousand dollar markup. You may think that I am exaggerating, but there are similar cars that have been marked up a lot more than MSRP (cough, cough, Nissan Z Nismo).
Should You Buy It?
The ZR1X is intended to be bought by a very specific group of people. If you are a car enthusiast and you have a lot of money, but not enough to buy a Porsche RS car, but you still want a lot of performance, the ZR1X is perfect for you.
